The Electoral Support Project (ESP) presented the Nepali language version of the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network website to the Election Commission, Nepal (ECN). The project set up a version of the website in Nepali language and technically supported the upgrade of the global site. ESP then uploaded several hundred documents related to the electoral process in Nepal that the project created and collected over the years.
The site now forms a core repository of information about elections in Nepal. It also provides broad and continuous access to substantive work that ESP has produced. This facilitates the exchange of electoral knowledge in Nepal and serves as public archive.
ECN agreed to maintain the content in Nepali, thereby contributing to sustaining these functions. ESP is also encouraging ECN to use this global resource to share its own documents and knowledge more widely.
The Electoral Support Project- Phase II (ESP) is a technical assistance initiative which focuses on a long-term institutional and professional capacity development of the Election Commission (ECN) for conducting credible, inclusive and transparent elections. The objectives of the project are 1) to strengthen the capacity of the ECN to function as an independent and credible institution, 2) to allow the conduct of the election cycle in an effective, sustainable, and credible manner, and 3) to increase democratic participation, particularly for under-represented and disadvantaged segments of the Nepali society. ESP is currently funded by EU.
